No Sew DIY curtains

Square

When It comes to curtains, it is really difficult for me to commit to a purchase. Simple neutral styles always catch my attention but the price tags stop me in my tracks. I just can’t bring myself pay top dollar for a couple strips of fabric. This is me living under the curse of the DIY brain, always caught up in the idea that, “I could make that myself.”

Thus we arrive at the no sew DIY curtains. I put these curtains together for my girls’ room. Simple white curtains were the goal and after searching around it became obvious I would never find any I could love for the price. I loved the boho-ish look of these curtains from Anthropologie, but at $88 a panel…well lets just say the relationship didn’t work out.

Use your iron or the dryer to get all of the wrinkles out of your sheets before starting your no sew DIY curtains project.

Once your sheets are all flat and crisp, you can crack open your glue and start attaching your fringe. I wanted my sheets to hang with the big hem (the part of the sheet that would be up by your head) at the bottom of the curtain. To accommodate the fold I would have at the top of my curtain, I glued my trim to the back side of the small hem on the sheet.

I happened to have a trillion wooden clips around my house, and I found them to be extremely helpful in holding my trim on while it dried.

Hanging Your Curtains

Once your glue is dried, should take an hour or two, remove your clips and you can hang your curtains. To get the perfect fold, I held my curtains up against my window and adjusted the fold until the bottom of the curtain reached the floor.

Measuring along the fold, I made sure it was the same length across my curtain. Then I clipped my rings to the top, spacing them about every eight inches.

And Wa-La, we’ve got no sew DIY curtains! When I added up my supplies, the total cost came out to about $7 per panel and took only 20 minutes of my time.

Enjoy!
